Freedom Fest is New Life Assemblys annual fIreworks event. It is being held on Saturday, June 27th. This will mark our 8th Freedom Fest. It is a family-friendly, alcohol-free, patriotic community event. It has grown every year since its beginning. This year we are expecting our biggest crowd ever. We have nationally known Christian recording artist Big Daddy Weave in concert, along with Chad James and the Splat Experience Painter Mark Eckel. We also have a petting zoo, rock climbing wall, super slide, and great rides including a 40-foot

Ferris Wheel. This event will be held on the grounds ofNew Life Assembly, 2416 North Wright Road, Janesville. The day starts at 11am with stage acts beginning at 2pm and the event culminating with fIreworks at 9:30pm. Ten teams take to the Rock River at Traxler Park competing for top honors at this annual tournament. Two time defending 2007 Nationals Champions, Mad City, 2007 Nationals runners-up, WonderLake, the Rock Aqua Jays and several other competitive teams will participate. Each team will present a one-hour show and be judged by a panel of experts in such areas as Doubles, Barefoot, Ballet Line, and Pyramids to name a few. Six teams are slated to ski on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. and four teams will ski on Sunday following by an

awards ceremony. Concessions, beverages, and vendor displays.

Don't miss the Home Garden Tour July 25

The Home Garden Tour will be held July 25. This is one of my favorite events because it's fun and I can gather great ideas for my own garden area. This year the tour will feature eight Janesville area home gardens.

If your interested:

Tickets for the Home Garden Tour are $10 in advance, $12 the day of event and can be purchased at Rotary Gardens or K&W Greenery now through the day of the event. The Home Garden Tour, featuring eight Janesville area home gardens, will be held July 25th, 10 am - 4 pm, rain or shine.

There will also be a lunch option available for this event. A $25 advance ticket (limited to 150 available), purchased only at Rotary Botanical Gardens, entitles the participant to entry to all Home Garden Tour gardens, entry to Rotary Gardens and a catered box lunch, served on the Rotary Gardens terrace between 11:30 am and 1 pm. All tickets also can be used for entry to Rotary Gardens on that day only.

Great deals and super events in Janesville

There are some really great events going on this weekend in Janesville.

Of course there is the Janesville Farmers Market which offers fresh flowers, vegetables, fruits, bakery and meat from local vendors.  It runs Saturdays, May through October, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is located in the 100 and 200 blocks of North Main Street in Janesville.

SaturdayJune 13 is the House of Mercy Charity Ball at the Janesville Country Club. There will be Live and Silent Auctions, raffle prizes: including $5,000 grand prize; 42" widescreen plasma TV 1st prize; 2nd prize $1,000. Call 608-741-2422.

Personally this is one of my favorite events because it is pure fun; the Zor Mini Cars Shrine Circus on Sunday, June 14 at Rock County Fairgrounds, 1 pm  &  5 pm. This is the biggest and best Circus ever at the Rock County Fairgrounds!  Majestic Tigers; Magnificent Elephants; Marinof Aerial Due; The Dragomir Troupe; Lloyd's Old English Sheepdogs; Moon Bounce; Pony and Elephant Rides; Cotton Candy; Sno-Cones and More!!!

There are also some really good deals going on right now.

Rock Aqua Jays will resume their water ski show

This is great news! The Rock Aqua Jays Water Ski Show Team will resume their water ski shows on Sunday, June 14 at 7:00 PM on the Rock River at Traxler Park in Janesville. 

Due to weather and flooding issues in the area the Aqua Jays were forced to cancel their performances at Traxler Park in 2008.

This is great news for the Aqua Jays and all of Janesville.

JPAC Your Lunch

Are you Looking for a fun break in your day? Janesville Performing Arts Center has introduced a new brown bag lunch series designed to creatively educate, inspire, and encourage people to view the world from different perspectives. 

JPAC Your Lunch will be offered at the Janesville Performing Arts Center (408 S. Main Street) on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Admission is free. (You can't beat that!) No concessions are available, but attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch. On June 10 the subject will be the the Sterling North Society www.sterlingnorth.com. You can learn about the Society and the preservation of the heritage and boyhood home of the famous author, Sterling North.
